What Erotica By Request is and why you should care

Hello faithful readers. Alternately, hello dirty perverts. Or hello, random person who found this site.

Whatever the case, I thought I would write a post about the site, about what you can do to keep it going, and about my process.

I write primarily by request. Someone comes to me with an idea, I think about it, and then I write a story for them. It's a completely free service, and something I do to keep myself writing, and to help myself better understand certain kinks. The things in this story aren't necessarily what turns me on, but I hope that they turn you, the reader, on.

Since this is a free service, I feel the right to ask for a few things, just to show that you support my work. First and foremost among them is feedback. If you like a story, please leave me a comment saying so. Tell me what you liked. Tell me how I can improve.

Secondly, please make requests. This also tells me that people are reading. More, it tells me that people want me to continue.

Both of these cost you nothing, but mean a lot to me.

Of course, if you want to do something that DOES cost you, you are welcome to do that too. Check out my books and wishlist page. Send me a present. Or buy yourself a book. Both are good. If  you buy a book, please review it.

The more interest people show, the more likely I am to write. The power is in your hands. (and that's the way I like it)

What I won't do

This is an unrequested story. I'm getting to know someone, and I wanted to write a story for her.

I've been thinking about it for a while. Didn't know how to start it. Didn't know what to say. I wasn't sure what to pick from her list of interests, what to focus on. All those things she likes, all those things that interest her!

And then it came to me. All the things she wants to do, and what I won't do.

Hiatus

Hey, did you notice that I haven't written anything in a while?


Yeah.

There are reasons. For one thing, the other half of my brain (the one who controls the body) is working on a non-kink novel about a witch with all her magic bound up in tattoos who finds herself stuck in a supernatural Hunger Games style situation. That's taking a lot of our creative energy, and since he lets me take most of it, I figure it's only fair to give him a chance every once in a while.

For another reason, I'm just not feeling it lately. What is there to say that I haven't already said? I've written nearly 300 stories, fantasies for more than 100 people. And it's awesome. But I'm worried that if I keep writing, I'll just be repeating myself.

Which brings me to you. Yes, you. If you like the things on this site, then you can help make me write.

Tell me something I haven't written about. Whether it's your fantasy, a random challenge, or just an idea that strikes your fancy, make a request. You can do it anywhere; comment on the story. send me an e-mail or a fetlife mail.

An apology

So yesterday's post was apparently offensive. Or unclear. Or something. Whatever the case, the person I wrote it for took it wrong. I consider that to be my failing. So, if that person is somehow still reading things, I hope that my apology will be accepted. I did not intend to offend. I did not intend to imply anything. I was just trying to write a story.

I know that you took the story as if I was trying to impose something on you. This came as a bit of a shock to me; I read the story as if the person speaking was the dominant woman, and the person spoken to was a male submissive. The only reason I didn't explicitly label it that way was in the hopes of making the story a bit more universal.

Whatever the case, I offended. And I didn't mean to. So my deepest apologies. Rest assured that your name was not added to the list I have written for, and that I will not consider that tale written for you.

For those who enjoy yesterday's story, I hope you enjoy it for what it is: a story of consensual hypnosis.

Hopefully, just a bad day

I haven't been writing much. I think it's a slump that has to do with Groundhog Day.

Winter is going on too long. Winter has more than settled in. It has staked claim, planted crops, adopted children, incorporated, and has gotten tax laws changed. It's so cold here that the groundhog's shadow froze, fell over, and killed the groundhog, but no one noticed because the light that was supposed to reach their eyes froze before it got there.

Anyway.

I'm not writing much of anything. And I haven't been writing for the blog. Check out past the cut, and I'll tell you why.

Lately, I've been exploring my sexuality. I think I might have a fetish, but I'm not sure.

If you think you, you do. It's not about the medical or clinical definition of fetish. If there's something that you connect to sex that other people don't, it's probably a fetish. That doesn't mean whatever your fetish may be is required to get you turned on. If it gets you more turned on, that's enough.

Wait. You mean anything that turns me on is a fetish?

No, not as such. I mean, straight men are turned on by a naked woman. Duh. That's not a fetish; that's heterosexuality. And preferring blondes over brunettes doesn't mean you have a fetish (just bad taste).

Moriarty news and preview

Sorry, but there's no story today. I may have one tomorrow. In the meantime, I've been working on connecting all of the Moriarty tales into a single continuous novel. It will be the first erotic novel I've (intentionally) written. And I won't be posting the in-between and framing bits here on the site. You'll have to buy the book, I'm afraid.

But I will give you some sneak peeks. And say a few things about dear Molly, Moriarty herself...

What it means to me...

So you may have noticed, the first year of Erotica By Request has resulted in 20,000 hits, several published collections, and more than 70 different people getting requests written for them.

One story has crossed the 1000 views mark by itself. Which inspired me to put together a collection of the top 10 stories on the blog, as of the anniversary. So I did. In a nice collection you can download on your kindle.

Today's the day!

One year ago today, I started this whole thing.

My goal when I began was just to get me writing more. I wanted to try my hand at something new, and figured that writing erotica didn't 'count'; it was easy to do, I didn't have to worry about the pressure of making it really good. I could just WRITE. If I did enough, and did a good enough job, I thought maybe, MAYBE I'd hit 12,000 views in the first year. That was the hope, that was the goal.

I've learned a few things, and I've changed a lot in that time. So I owe you some thanks, and some apologies:

So today, I was going on a rant in my head about the things that annoy me (this one was inspired by otherwise attractive people wearing sweats and moccasins), and I got to thinking about what rules I would have if I ruled the world.

Which led me to realize that there is a world that I rule, a place where I can present these policies as if they would actually be followed. So I started writing, and kind of enjoy what came out of it. I hope you like it too.

Regular updates will recommence.... whenever I damned well feel like it. ;) In other news, The Interrogation is closing in on 1000 views, and the blog itself is closing in on 19,000. Thank you all!

Policy Changes

I'm a bit tired today; the comings, goings, and doings of my alter ego, the one that has a real job that pays bills and all that boring stuff, has really worn me out and taken away that creative spark. Well, some of it.

What it left me to do, along with the rest of the crew here at EbR HQ, is put together our 'season lineup' for upcoming stories. We aren't producing anything today, but we did some brain storming and came up with a few things to bring forth to you, the reader. Basically, we want to know what YOU want to see. So if you would be so kind as to take a few minutes to read this, and make your opinions known in the comments, we'd all appreciate it.

Hiatus

There will be a (hopefully brief) hiatus as the EbR crew goes on a corporate retreat. Those who survive will return ready to go back to work.

Give Boot a kick in the ass... please?

It seems like we've been very quiet here at EbR HQ. There hasn't been much coming out (other than Janice, and congrats to her!), and there isn't much talk of future stories. But there IS some good news.

Boot is going to have a story published in an anthology of 2013's best gay erotica. So that's great. More details on that as it develops.

We haven't been getting much from Boot lately. Seems like he's kind of depressed, feeling somewhat overwhelmed and under appreciated. We threw him a party, even found an entire sorority that needed their boots licked clean, but that didn't seem to help. He just doesn't seem to be all there right now.

Word at EbR Headquarters

Here at HQ, there's been a lot of tension in the air. Rumors of layoffs have abounded, as have rumors of binding, horsewhipping, castration, gang bang initiations, and even mandatory overtime. Thankfully, the layoff rumor has been laid to rest. We all get to keep our jobs. That, like the Shibari relaxation seminar, was a load off.

I know I haven't been posting much recently. The other me (the one who lives in the real world and has to pay bills and stuff) is under a lot of stress trying to find a job, and that's putting a real hamper on his creativity.

More stories ARE coming, I promise. More so if you start making more requests, asking questions, or making comments about the things you like.

A Writer's Prerogative: Tenses

While I was writing today's story, I kept noticing that I was shifting tenses. I was going from past to present and back again. For the most part, I didn't fix it. I didn't fix it because it wasn't broken. It wasn't wrong.

When I write stories, I often switch tenses throughout the story. It's not a mistake, it's a choice. A lot of the time in my life, I drift off from where I am right now and remember things that just happened; I think about the things that led up to where I am. So in my head, I shift tenses. And I do so seamlessly. I like to think I do the same in the stories themselves.
